Prescott community mourns young hockey player killed in car crash

The Prescott area was in mourning Monday after a 10-year-old boy was killed in a two-car collision early Saturday evening.

Dasan Munro was returning home from a hockey game in Cardinal when a car driven by his father, David, collided head-on with a Ford F-150 truck. Dasan died at an area hospital shortly after the crash. His father remains in hospital and is in stable condition, Ontario Provincial Police say.

With two other sons, one older and one younger, also heavily involved in hockey, the family is well known in the Prescott hockey community.

On Sunday, players on the South Grenville Minor Hockey Association teams wore black armbands to honour Dasan, who played for South Grenville’s Atom B rep team. A moment of silence was observed before the Midget B1 game against North Leeds.

The Executive and members of HEO Minor would like to convey our sincere condolences to the family and everyone who knew Dasan.
