Lou Nistico

On the weekend the HEO Branch lost a very familiar face.

We send our concdolences to Lou Nistico's family

Louis Charles Nistico (January 25, 1953 – November 27, 2020) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 3 games in the National Hockey League and 186 games in the World Hockey Association. He played with the Colorado Rockies, Toronto Toros, and Birmingham Bulls.

Lou later got back into hockey at the Jr.A level as a GM and Coach in the CJHL, now CCHL. He won championships in Ottawa with the Junior Senators and was also the general manager for the Kanata Stallions and assistant general manager for the Hawkesbury Hawks.

Silver Seven Day

The Ottawa Valley Silver Seven held a team day on Saturday in Almonte with 5 on 5 scrimmages and cost of admission was a donation for the Lanark County food bank.  The following is a note from the organizer to the OVSS Communications Director and a couple of pictures of the result.  Congratulations on the donation!

Liann - just wanted to pass along the following picture that Pete and I took this afternoon when we dropped off our donations to the Lanark Food Bank this afternoon.  In total we were able to collect approx. $2900 in food & cash donations. The second picture highlights the weight of our food collected, and provides a little information about the Food Bank. Our collection from the weekend will help feed approximately 50 people for 30 days!  What a great job from all our family members over the weekend.  It really touch's you to think the work that we did on Saturday would feed 3 of our hockey teams for 30 days.  Just one of the reason why all of our S7 executives and coach's volunteer their time for days like these to where we not just a hockey association but families that give back!
