Concussion awareness information

The Hockey Canada Concussion Awareness app is a great tool for parents, coaches, trainers, players, administrators and anyone interested in learning about the prevention, recognition and response to concussion injury, including responsible return-to-play protocol.

The Hockey Canada Concussion Awareness app for kids is a great tool for parents to teach young players how to prevent concussions through respect and playing by the rules. The app explains important concussion information in an easy-to-follow manner for young players and contains an interactive game around respect starring Puckster, the official mascot of Hockey Canada.

– As we are all aware any activity has a certain amount of risk attached to it -  but if the sport is played the way it is meant to be played – with respect and by the rules  the health benefits will far outweigh the risks.

The Hockey Canada Concussion app for kids contains great information and we recommend that parents and guardians go through the information with their young players!

Ottawa Sens Major Bantam AAA

We received this story which just begs to be published and shows how our members can make a difference.

Community Spirit!

Hockey teaches many different things: determination, dedication, teamwork and leadership. It also teaches kids about sacrifice, integrity and character.

This December 2016, the Ottawa Sens Major Bantam AAA team sponsored a family through the ‘Adopt a Family’ program with the Kanata Food Cupboard. Over 450 families received food and gifts this holiday season due to the kindness and support of many volunteers.

We are proud of this team for taking time to provide a family with a memorable Christmas this year. This kind of community spirit not only helps people in need, but it teaches us about teamwork and helps develop our kids into responsible citizens.

Tom Renney announced that Hockey Canada’s chief operating officer, Scott Smith, has been appointed president and COO effective July 1, 2017.
Renney, who joined the organization as president and CEO in 2014, will continue to lead and set the direction for Hockey Canada in his role as chief executive officer. He said the move to promote Smith will allow the organization to more effectively deliver on its mandate to grow the game within Canada, and abroad.
